This building holds a remarkable place in California’s history. It was here that a messenger from Sutter’s Mill—where gold was first discovered, igniting the legendary California Gold Rush—let slip the news of the find. The first whispers of gold in California are said to have started within these walls, making it a landmark of both local lore and national significance. Today, it’s officially recognized as a historical building by the city.

Some friends and I stopped by for a good time and weren't let down. The beer is ice cold and the food was great. I had the beef belly tacos and it was a perfect portion to fill ya up. It's in a beautiful part of town and I will be going back.

Went for lunch and had the fish tacos and pork tacos that we split. The food is really good and fresh and the service was quick and very friendly. The late afternoon and evening this place is FULL but lunch time is fairly light, the parking much easier and it's easy to talk with friends and really enjoy the food, drink and comfortable atmosphere. Again Night time, don't plan on quiet or easy parking as this place pops at night. Just pick your atmosphere and go then. You won't be disappointed

This is a nice little sports bar located near the water down on 1st St. It can be a bit loud but it's a sports bar! They have shuffleboard and pool, delicious wings and great specialty drinks. Perfect as a halfway mark for a nice walking tour of downtown

My journey began as a line cook in a fast-paced kitchen, where I quickly developed a deep understanding of ingredient quality, flavor profiles, and presentation. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with talented chefs who have inspired me to pursue creativity in every dish.
I've contributed to everything from preparing comfort food classics to experimenting with modern cuisine, always keeping the focus on delivering a memorable experience for every guest.
Joining Rookies restaurant and bar is a thrilling new chapter in my culinary career, and I'm eager to contribute my knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm to this team. I believe that my experience, drive for excellence, and love of food will be a great asset to Rookies Sports & Events.

As a second-generation Benicia native, Marine Corps veteran, and local firefighter, I’ve always believed in serving the community I call home. Opening Rookies Sports & Events with my father was more than just a business move—it was a way to create a space where locals, friends, and families could come together to relax, enjoy good food, and share great moments. Whether you’re here for the game, a cold drink after work, or one of our community events, Rookies is a reflection of the pride I have for my hometown and the people in it.
